Did you ever notice that people in your family (maybe a parent, maybe a grandparent) speaks with an accent? Maybe YOU speak with an accent!

First of all, just remember that people who speak with accents speak at least TWO languages!

You are also beginning to have an idea of why there are accents: people speak with accents in languages they've LEARNED when they're older; they speak naturally in languages with which they grew up and which are natural to them. Someone born in France who moves to Israel, will speak Hebrew with an accent; someone born in Korea who moves to Canada will speak English or French with an accent; someone born in Russia who moves to … etc.

In your group of about 25 people, you have statistical information about 175 people! (25 of you; 50 parents and 100 grandparents.)

We'll now look at where everyone was born and organize the information into additional graphs. These graphs will be different from those that you created in the last activity.

Review the places of birth of the 25 people in your group. Simply list the countries of birth that are mentioned and how many people were born in that country.

Now do exactly the same with your parents' generation and again with your grandparents' generation.
